Creating Your Smart SPACE: The Digital Transformation of Joint Arthroplasty
The Smart SPACE platform provides surgeons with solutions pre-operative planning and intra-operative surgical management. It is composed of:
3D Planner - Allowing surgeons to perform a pre-operative evaluation of the clinical case, starting from the CT-Scan of the involved joint.
3D Positioner - Patient specific guides that allow execution of the pre-operative plan.
Cubit Navigation* - Thanks to the two electronic trackers, the intra-operative navigation will allow surgeons to prepare and position implants according to the pre-operative plan
The Smart SPACE platform applies to the Shoulder, Hip and Knee joints creating more continuity for surgeons. The Planner provides new ways for the surgeon to define pre-operative surgical targets. For example, the Smart SPACE 3D planner is the first fully automated surgical planning suite which utilizes novel technology to support visualization of the native joint line – prior to any pathological changes.
The Cubit Navigation* requires no modification of the OR set-up thanks to the reduced number of components and advanced technology. Cubit* utilizes novel sensors instead of a camera. Therefore Cubit* does not have issues with “line of sight” as traditional navigation systems do. Additionally, Cubit* increases the efficiency in the operating room by reducing the calibration time and streamlining the surgical steps.
Thanks to the modularity and versatility, Smart SPACE offers surgeons the possibility to perform pre-operative planning providing an accurate evaluation of bone defects, anatomy reconstruction and implant positioning. Additionally, with the 3D Positioner, the surgeon can execute intraoperatively what was planned with a high level precision and accuracy.
Finally, the Cubit* guidance system is a streamlined way properly navigate surgical preparation and implant positioning according to the plan.
Key benefits: Simple automated pre-op workflow, Precision guidance at low or no capital cost, Platform enables “Technology as a Service” for current & future implant families, transforming any existing instrument into a smart instrument.
*Cubit Navigation is not cleared by the FDA for distribution in the United States.
