Deep Dive into Shoulder Arthroplasty: Key Takeaways from the 13th MO.S.A.I.C. Course
A few days have passed since the 13th edition of the Modular Shoulder Arthroplasty International Course (MO.S.A.I.C.) and we're still reeling from the global engagement. More than 1,000 surgeons - both in person and virtually - participated in in-depth discussions on the latest advances in shoulder arthroplasty.
Our esteemed faculty, including PD Dr. Jens Agneskirchner, Prof. Alessandro Castagna, Mr. Richard Stephen Bale, Dr. Hamid Hosseini, Dr. Pierre Métais, Mr. Amar Malhas and Prof. Andreas Niemeier, shared their vast knowledge and guided attendees through the multifaceted world of shoulder arthroplasty. Their insightful presentations on anatomic, reverse and fracture shoulder arthroplasty sparked valuable discussions and undoubtedly inspired participants to push the boundaries in this ever-evolving field. This edition specifically focused on the topic of glenoid bone defect reconstruction and showed and discussed the options of glenoid bone grafting and augmentation. The course culminated with two live surgeries broadcast live, offering a valuable learning experience. The first case showcases the implantation of a stemless hybrid anatomic prosthesis. The second, more complex case, demonstrates the management of a glenoid bone defect using custom-made implants.
