The EFESTO Project has the challenging goal of characterizing the fatigue performance of medical-grade Ti6Al4V alloy

The EFESTO Project has the challenging goal of characterizing the fatigue performance of medical-grade Ti6Al4V alloy made by additive manufacturing, an aspect still poorly addressed in the relevant scientific literature. Two different technologies will be explored and compared: Electron Beam Melting (EBM) and Selective Laser Melting (SLM). Fatigue tests will be conducted on specimens and then extended to a prototype implantable device. In addition, experimental activities will be complemented by the development of a mathematical-statistical model for the fatigue performance prediction of Ti6Al4V components made with the technologies investigated during the project.
