HSS & LimaCorporate are breaking New Ground
San Daniele del Friuli, Udine, Italy - May 22, 2019 - HSS and LimaCorporate are breaking new ground to create the first provider-based 3D printing facility for custom complex orthopedic implants. This innovative collaboration will dramatically increase the availability and speed of personalized orthopedic care for patients with complex orthopedic conditions in the U.S.
The new facility combines LimaCorporate’s advanced 3D printing technology and experience as a leading global medical device manufacturer from Italy and the clinical care and biomechanical engineering expertise from HSS, ranked no. 1 in orthopedics for the past nine years by U.S. News & World Report.
Patients will be able to be scanned on-site at the new facility, so their custom implant will be created just for them in the lab. The facility is expected to be operational by early 2020 and will begin serving hospitals in the region prior to making the devices available to all U.S. providers.
